- To lose control and react with sudden anger or distress.

Where it came from
Traces to Baton Rouge slang built on the older phrase crash dummy, used in African American Vernacular English and on Black Twitter as early as 2013. Rapper NBA YoungBoy’s 2017 song “Stepped On” gave it an early boost, and it spread widely again in 2024.
