1. A blunt response blaming a loss or complaint on someone’s own lack of ability.
2. Used outside gaming for any failure chalked up to a lack of skill rather than bad luck.

Where it came from

The phrase grew out of competitive gaming chat and forums in the mid-2010s, used as a flat rebuttal to complaints about difficulty or balance. Speedrunning and Twitch communities kept it alive, and it moved into general internet use by the early 2020s.
