Field notes

Drawn from a 2017 Instagram photo of a real Shiba Inu named Balltze, nicknamed Ball Ball, who lived in Hong Kong. Balltze died in August 2023 at twelve, after complications during a cancer surgery, and his owner asked fans to remember the joy he brought instead of the loss. The meme he inspired still runs the small side of every strength joke online.
